Q: What is the GuardRite Steel Barrier System?
A: It is a protective system that helps prevent fork trucks from impacting and damaging your facility and equipment.
Q: What are the base components of the GuardRite Steel Barrier System?
A: GuardRite Steel is made up of the following components:
• Safety yellow powder coat painted steel columns: 43” tall 4” x 4” x 1/4” steel with a 10” x 10” x 1/4” steel base plate.
• 9’8” Safety yellow powder coat painted steel rails are manufactured with 12-gauge steel and can withstand a 10,000-lb. fork truck traveling at 3 to 4 mph. All rail edges are covered with protective vinyl stripping.
Q: What hardware is supplied with GuardRite Steel components?
A: Each column is supplied with four 3/4” x 5 1/4” anchors for securing column to floor.
• Each rail is supplied with 1/2” x 1 1/2” bolts for securing rails to posts.
Impactability
Q: What are the characteristics of the GuardRite Steel System as it relates to impact?
A: The steel rails can stop a 10,000-pound fork truck traveling at 3 to 4 mph with a deflection of 12". When impacted the steel rails will bend and need to be replaced. In a double-rail system, the bottom rail is offset to take most of the impact.
Installation
Q: How involved is the installation?
A: Since all hardware is provided, it makes installation easy. All rails are bolted to the posts, and posts are anchored to the floor.
Q: How long will installation take?
A: As a rule of thumb, a 10’ double rail section will take roughly 1 hour to install.
Q: Do I need to fill out a survey?
A: When measuring for this product, you may want to use a grid sheet to layout your application to help determine the proper number of columns and rails are needed to accommodate your application.
